Adding Content: Fixed vs. Updated
WordPress offers two basic ways to save your content:
- Pages – fixed content, like your table of contents or an author biography page
- Posts – updated content or individual pieces, good for multimedia
Flexible Organization
- Categories – Can easily create a complex hierarchy, used for table of contents
- Post Tags – Create other flexible filters, from content type to keywords to sources
- Custom Menu – Edit your navigation menu to highlight key pages or link to outside sources
Dynamic Design
- Theme – change the colors, fonts, and layout by selecting a pre-built design
- Widgets – add links and interactive functions to your sidebar instantly (search, archive links, tag clouds, etc.)
- Page Templates – select different styles for your pages or posts to match different purposes or content
Subscription options
- RSS feeds – get updates whenever the site has new content, or get updates for just one section of the site
- E-mail – use Feedburner to convert RSS updates into e-mail subscriptions anyone can sign up for on their own.
